Example Kickstarts Summer

My favourite song this week is the new single from British rapper Example. Due for release on the 13th June, this track will be a great summer anthem. Cant wait to get this one but as a double treat I’ve posted both the new single Kickstarts and a radio one live lounge cover of Ke$ha’s TikTok.

Glee Prediction Comes True – Kinda

Mystic Meg would have been proud. A while back I almost put a bet on Jessie’s Girl to have a resurgence and make it into the charts. If Journey can do it so can Rick Springfield. Whilst I wasn’t entirely right, the Glee cast still managed to push it into the top 40, not bad for a bit part song!

The Baseballs – Umbrella

I’ve just been targeted with and ad from this band I had to share it. The Baseballs are the the sounds of Elvis, the Cheesiness of Cliff Richard but the lyrics of 2009/10. Listen to their new song, a cover of Rihanna’s Umbrella. Get your glittery pants ready for this one :)

Cash and Strummer do Marley

So England are finally world champions at something! Following the amazing Twenty20 World Cup win in the Windies I thought I’d post a Caribbean song with a twist. Bob Marley is without doubt the biggest artist to come out of the Caribbean (although Rihanna is probably giving him a run for his money at the moment) and Redemption song is one of favourite Marley tracks. Without wanting to blaspheme I’ve decided to post a version by Mr Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer. It’s actually a really good version, it probably doesn’t have the emotion of the original but the guitar is a lot cleaner and you can’t doubt that Cash and Strummer add something different.

Enjoy

Vampire Weekend Do Fleetwood Mac

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

I love when I come across a good cover. For me it usually has to:

1. Be a song I know and like

2. Have the artists take on it – no one wants karaoke

The following definitely falls under both categories. The only thing I can fault is Vampire Weekends inability to hold a high note. Have a listen to the their rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere.

A Hundred Lovers

Josep - A Hundred Lovers

Came across this song whilst on one of my random youTube browses. The songs from the new Diesel video which promotes their spring summer range. Diesel are closely associating themselves with the song name “a hundred lovers” and by the looks of it Josep (the artist) is taking every opportunity to take advantage of the free press.
