New OK GO Video = Awesome
Mar 2nd
Quick post…. Just seen the new OK GO video (thanks Ronan).
OK GO are well known for making their own videos but this takes it one step further. Its the Honda Cog ad on steroids. The songs called “This Too Shall Pass”, watch the video below.
Matt & Kim Show their Soul
Feb 21st
One of New York’s bands of 2009 have been remixed. Matt & Kim may have been around for longer than a year, but their debut full length album was released in 2009 and tracks have featured on various TV shows and adverts, Barcardi being the most notable.
I’ve been a bit of a latecomer with these guys but their music definitely deserves a mention. Those who have played FIFA10 may know this track already (I’m more of a Pro Evo fan myself), but adding De La Soul to an already huge track “Daylight” can only add to the awesomeness.
Have a listen and tell me what you think.

Dizzee’s got the Love
Feb 18th
I’ve only just managed to catch this performance but I think it deserves a post. Whilst I was watching United take Milan apart then almost throw it away again the Brits were being aired on ITV. Although most of the press following the Brits was about Cheryl Cole’s embarrassing lip syncing issues, there were some awesome performances.
I could go on about the Jay-Z & Alicia Keys duet but it was the Dizzee Rascal and Florence & the Machine duet which surprised me the most. Dizzee’s had a couple of hit and miss tracks recently but he was on form at the Brits and I’m sure he impressed a few people (including Hova himself). Florence’s performance was also flawless but check it out for yourself.
Kiss this…
Feb 10th
Right, I’ve been busy so it’s been a while since my last post. Also haven’t had much time to keep up on my music but decided to post a song which I heard a while ago.
Born in America, raised in HK & living in Paris, Uffie is a female synth rapper. She’s had a couple of songs in the past (none of which have impressed me) but this one caught my ear. “MCs Can Kiss” is her latest track produced by Mr Oizo, not too sure when its released but Uffie’s album comes out in a couple months.
Listen out for the Sax solo! Oh and if you dont like it, I’ve got something you can kiss.
Glee – Watch it! (just don’t tell anyone)
Dec 26th
After seeing a couple of adverts on TV I decided to watch a few episodes of another new US import called Glee. Glee essentially is a high school show about a bunch of kids and their teacher who start a Glee club. Glee which apparently is the lowest form of social status in american high school consists of social misfits, stutterers, gays and wheelchaired students. Slowly they manage to attract a few football players and cheerleaders but also a host of enemies including the head cheerleading coach & the rest of the school. You’ll notice a few familiar faces in Glee, the cheerleader coach is the crazy lady from role models, and both of the Glee teacher’s love interests are former “Heroes”.
While the story line is filled with love interests, pregnancies and sabotages. The real reason to watch Glee is the music. I’ve always liked the odd choir-esk cover, those who’ve seen the movie slackers might remember the Ace of Base cover. But Glee takes it to another level, with 4/5 songs every episode and tracks you’d all know. To be fair, after hearing their cover of “Don’t stop Believing” I had to watch more and the song list doesn’t disappoint with tracks that include Gold Digger, Ride Wit Me, No Air, Push It & Confessions, to name a few. Those from the UK will also notice a heavy skew to Brit music (especially in the first few eps) with covers of Duffy, Amy Wino & Lily Allen.
One episode led to watching the whole of the first season in a week. I’d best describe it as a cross between Sister Act 2, High School Musical, American Pie (if it was PG-13) & any typical high school TV show. Glee for the past week has been my vice & while it won’t do my newly awarded biggest office metrosexual image any good, I’ll be catching it again when it comes back in April 2010.

5 Jurassic 5 Tracks You Should Listen To
Dec 6th
For some reason I’m in a Jurassic 5 mood today, so I’m going to share 5 J5 Songs you should listen to. If you want to get one J5 album, I’d recommend the self titled “Jurassic 5 LP” but for variation’s sake I’ve selected songs across a few different albums.
1. Concrete Schoolyard (Album: Jurassic 5)
2. In the Flesh (Album: Jurassic 5)
3. Whats Golden (Album: Power In Numbers)
4. Twelve (Album: Quality Control)
5. Back 4 U (Album: Feedback)
Jay-Z + Radiohead = Jaydiohead
Dec 3rd
My past few posts have all included remixes. Most of which are bands which I like but don’t particular love, until now…
This cross Atlantic collaboration, and by collaboration I mean a mashup without their permission, consists of 2 of the biggest artists of the past 10 years. In one corner we’ve got the king of the remix Jay-Z, and in the other we’ve got the melodic beats of Radiohead.
There’s been several attempts over the past years to remix Jay-Z with varying results. Dangermouse’s Grey album is probably one of my favourite albums (Jay-Z and Beatles – whats not too like!). Jay-Zeezer was a decent but mostly unsuccessful mashup of Jay and Weezer.
The Jaydiohead attempt is actually pretty good. Nothing seems forced and it seems to flow really well. I’ve got a couple of previews below (as well as some of the other attempts) but if you want the full albums you can download them here: Download
UPDATE: should really give a shout out to the guy behind it, Max Tannone. You can find more of his work at the above link.

Taken by Trees – Sweet Child O’ Mine (That John Lewis Ad)
Nov 15th
This song’s been out for a while now. I first heard it on the trailer for the Wes Craven remake of “last House on the Left”, but after hearing it on the new John Lewis Christmas TV advert I thought some UK readers might want to know what it was.
I like a good cover and it’s nice to see a piano version of the Guns N Roses Classic.
Enjoy
