Damian Marley & Nas – As We Enter
Apr 30th
Whilst Damian Marley is very different in style to his dad, you can’t deny that he’s made it big in his own right. Although his “toasting” style might not be everyone’s cup of tea, mix it with a bit of megastar Nas and you’ve got a great song. As We Enter is the first release off the Marley & Nas collaborative album which is due out 18th May.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Apr 25th
From Juno to Superbad to Nick and Norah’s infinite playlist, Micheal Cera has pretty much made his career on indie-rom-coms. For a 21 year old geek who looks about 16 he actually does quite well with the ladies. His latest movie “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” is the latest comic book remake & starts off as your typical Cera movie but it does have an odd twist. Rather than chasing the girl in the usual sense, SPvsTW ends up being somewhere inbetween Nick and Norah and Street Fighter. It all seems a bit OTT but looks funny none the less.
As an extra treat I’ve also posted Cera and Page’s rendition of “Anyone Else but You”

Robyn – Dancing on My Own
Apr 25th
This is probably the popiest thing I’ve posted but I think this tracks going to be a big one when it’s released. Many of you will remember Robyn’s huge self titled 2005 album. 5 years is a lot of time between albums so Robyn is making it up by releasing 3 in close succession. The first of which “Body Talk Part 1″ is due for release on 14th June and it’ll be launched alongside the first single “Dancing on My Own’.
Dancing on My Own starts off with an electronic club anthem bass line but the vocals never kick into its potential. For this reason it’ll probably only be a radio/ipod song but its still worth a listen.

Chitty Bang – The Opposite of Adults
Apr 10th
Turned on MTV for the first time in ages and rather than being lambasted with the latest Hills/City/Dogfather/Rev show I actually heard some music!
At first I thought it was Kids by MGMT but Philly outfit Chiddy Bang have sampled Kids for their own song cleverly named “The Opposite of Adults”. The four piece are actually still attending college but already have a cult following and are touring in a UK venue near you soon.

Drake – Over
Apr 7th
Haven’t posted in a while now and in a sombre & lazy mood so posting a song which has been on the air for a while now.
The track is by the Canadian Drake and is called Over. You probably already know Drake from the track Best I Ever Had, but this is his new track off his 2010 Album Thank Me Later.

Plan B – She Said
Mar 16th
Those of you from the UK will remember the old Plan B. His first single a few years ago was raw, aggressive and he was touted (as any white rapper is) as the UK Eminem. Somewhere, somehow over the years he’s changed his image completely. Long gone are the vests, baggy pants and rap led aggressive songs and in comes a smartened up, suited up and melody-led artist. The 2010 Plan B is less Eminem and more Robin Thicke, the transformation is unbelievable.
To prove my point I’ve posted both the new song (She Said) and one of his oldies (no more eating). Try and spot the difference!

Darwin Deez – Radar Detector
Mar 16th
The first time I saw this video my reaction was WTF!? I’ve now watched it a good few times but I still can’t tell whether the video is a joke. The video is the new song by New Yorker Darwin Deez and is a compilation of the most random scenes including Deez dancing about looking like a white skinnier cross between Rick James and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 days of summer & 3rd Rock).
The song itself is a very upbeat track which surprisingly grows on you as any poppy song should. I can picture this being a great summer track, It’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but give it a go (or two) and I’m sure you’ll love it.
Now, just try and sing it in your head without picturing skinny white guys body popping.

Phoenix – Lisztomania Sung by a Choir
Mar 14th
Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus was probably one of the albums of 2009. With the whole Glee/Choir thing now in fashion, I thought I’d post a cute version I saw on YouTube of their hit single Lisztomania. As a double-ly treat, I’ll let you decide between the Piano and Guitar version sung by the PS22 Choir.
Sit back, enjoy and lets awwwwwwwwwww together……

Pony Pony Run Run – Hey You & Walking on a Line
Mar 14th
The French are known for their fine wine, cheese, love of frogs, Eric Cantona and for past couple of decades Electronica. With offspring such as Daft Punk, Justice, Yelle, Vitalic & Eiffel 65 you wonder how the French can pump out Electronica artists faster than Tiger Woods can find mistresses. Well they’ve done it again.
This time the band is “Pony Pony Run Run”, they’ve been around for a while now and their biggest single “Hey You” first hit the charts late 2009. Having heard them recently at a house party I felt they deserved a shout out.
Two clips for you today, the first is “Hey You” and the second is “Walking on the Line”.
Enjoy!
